Joining a sub-aqua club and learning to dive does involve a
certain amount of financial commitment but Aberdeen Sub-Aqua Club endeavours to
keep these costs as low as practical. There is an initial joining fee
which varies for people wishing to learn how to dive and qualified divers.
Training
is provided by the club through fully trained volunteer instructors. Please see
the training page for more information on training and qualifications.
If you are new to the sport and require basic training then there are a few
additional costs; these can be broken down as follows:

demand valves, buoyancy compensators and cylinders for training and

- The branch will
provide wet & dry training, with examinations, to Sports Diver

In
addition to the above membership costs, a trainee diver would need to buy a
mask, fins and snorkel for pool sessions. For the open water diving you will
also need to buy a drysuit or semidry suit, weight belt & weights hood and
gloves. Many of these items can be bought used at a reduced cost. The trainee
will also need to pay £3 pool entry for the pool sessions.
